“The Metamorphosis” tells the story of Gregor Samsa, a travelling salesman who wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect (often interpreted as a beetle or cockroach). Despite his horrifying transformation, his first thought is about missing work.

As days pass:

• His family is disgusted and ashamed of him.

• He becomes isolated in his room, no longer treated as human.

• Over time, his family adjusts to life without him, feeling burdened by his existence.

• Eventually, Gregor dies alone and unloved, and his family feels relieved, looking forward to a new, freer life.
